Domenico Martello had worked in the transport industry and was very disillusioned with company practices he had observed. He felt that there was a place in the market for a company that was run honestly and fairly and encouraged a team environment for owner drivers. When his personal circumstances saw him at his local Centrelink, Domenico picked up a brochure for NEIS. He applied for the program and his business idea became a reality. |
His business, DNR Logistics Pty Ltd is a transport company which provides transport solutions to companies located within the Melbourne metropolitan area. DNR offers various transport models and products including fleet management, taxi trucks and couriers, warehousing and distribution and long and short term storage.
When DNR was established in early 2003, there was only Domenico as an owner-driver and one client. Currently, DNR has four full-time office employees and 28 full-time owner-drivers dedicated to their fleet with another ten who work for DNR on a casual basis only.
Domenico believes his business is about honesty, integrity and providing people with a better environment to work and be a valued part of the team. Gaining respect from the transport industry in general (competitors, drivers and clients) is and always will be just as important to him as is his bottom line profit figures. And this approach is obviously working as his fleet is growing every month and most of it is by word-of-mouth as many new clients ring via recommendations from established clientele.
