NEIS Panel Members

 Panel Members are local organisations contracted by DEEWR to deliver NEIS throughout Australia. In 2009 - 2012 there are two or more NEIS Panel Members in every district in the country, with the responsibility of assisting 6,300 people into self-employment.

NEIS Panel Members may be drawn from local organisations such as:
• Private sector specialist business training organisations
• Job Services Australia Providers
• TAFE Colleges
• Community Based Organisations
• Indigenous Corporations
• Business Enterprise Centres

The number of NEIS places allocated nationally is not allocated to a particular Member or district, but is based on the anticipated national demand for NEIS and availability of government funding in the Productivity Places Program (PPP), which controls the delivery of Certificate IV in Business (BSB40407) and Certificate III on Micro Business (BSB30307).

  What do they do?

• Establish and maintain linkages with Centrelink and JSA Providers;
• Market and promote NEIS locally and deal with subsequent enquiries;
• Identify Jobseekers who have the potential to develop a viable business;
• Assess business ideas against Skills Shortages and Productivity Places rules;
• Establish and maintain relationships with PPP Registered Training Organizations;
• Assess business ideas, recommend NEIS participation and arrange PPP training;
• Give support and tutoring during business studies and business plan development;
• Assess business plans and NEIS businesses for commercial viability;
• Monitor business performance and provide mentoring for the initial twelve months;
• Monitor cash flow and commercial viability during the initial twelve months;
• Provide mentoring and business coaching advice for the initial twelve months.
